Job Description

William Buck, more than advisors: We understand that exceptional advice comes from passionate people who thrive in an environment where they feel empowered to shape outcomes. That's why at William Buck, we've created what we like to call the 'Goldilocks' model – a top ten performing business that's just the right size to ensure every employee has a tangible impact.

William Buck is the perfect place to start, grow or take your career to the next level. Be part of a dynamic team that prides itself on delivering advice that makes a difference.

Your new role:

Are you looking for a challenging role that offers broad exposure to all facets of financial advice and planning?

Want to be mentored by some of Australia’s top financial advisors (check the Top 100!) while continuing to grow and develop your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment?

Then this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

Our Wealth Advisory team has grown over 20% year-on-year for the past four years, and we’re now looking for a passionate and driven Associate Advisor to join our dynamic team.

You’ll be working with a group of high-performing professionals renowned for delivering fee-only, client-centric advice. Operating under our own license, we partner closely with successful business owners, senior executives, and ultra-high-net-worth families to deliver sophisticated, personalised strategies that go far beyond investment advice.

What your day might look like:

  • Attending and contributing to client meetings (new and existing)
  • Co-leading client relationships with a Senior Advisor
  • Supporting Partners and Senior Advisors to develop high-level, tailored advice strategies
  • Conducting investment research, analysis, and portfolio management
  • Developing complex financial strategies across wealth accumulation, restructuring, estate planning, and more
  • Assisting with the preparation of review documents and implementing recommendations
  • Handling client queries and collaborating with other professionals to deliver outstanding results

What sets us apart:

  • A clear, supported career pathway to becoming an Advisor
  • Full support through your Professional Year
  • A collaborative, advice-first culture — not sales-focused!
  • Work with UHNW family office groups, business owners, executives, as well as asset consulting/portfolio management for institutional investors
  • A proven track record of developing high-calibre Advisors
  • Extensive in-house training in investments, tax, complex structures (Trusts, Companies, Partnerships), asset protection, and the soft skills needed to advise —without selling
  • Holistic advice that includes wealth creation, tax minimisation, superannuation (including SMSF), debt management, and asset protection strategies

What makes you ‘just right’:

  • A degree in Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in financial planning/advice, superannuation consulting, technical roles, or accounting
  • A strong desire to learn and grow — we’ll invest heavily in your development, and we hope you will too
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • A collaborative, personable team player who enjoys what they do and wants to build a long-term career with us.

Some of our benefits:

  • Hybrid working – 2 days from home
  • Salary Continuance Insurance for all employees
  • Ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities
  • Access to an in-house psychologist for personal and professional coaching
  • Bi-monthly team lunches
  • ‘Dress for your day’ policy
  • Fun social events through our Social Club
  • Wellness perks – Personal Training, Yoga, Run Club and more
  • Dedicated mentorship
  • Industry-leading Return to Work incentives for primary carers
